Jhenane Joseph is a registered nurse and a Certified Clinical Aromatherapy Practitioner (CCAP), with 12 plus years of nursing care. Her background experiences include pediatric, adult medicine, elderly care, asthma case management, and perioperative nurse. In 2008, Jhenane graduated with her Bachelor's of Science in Health Education. She worked as a pediatric research assistant. In 2009, Jhenane decided to take on a new journey in nursing. In 2011, she earned her Bachelor's of Science in Nursing. After graduation, Jhenane explored different areas of nursing. Each area has shaped and defined her role as a nurse. She found her calling in service to the community. Her community involvements included speaking at the Prevention Wellness Trust Fund, where she discussed her finding and teaching on asthma and the effect that it has on the inner city kids. Furthermore, her poster on Asthma in the inner city was presented at the American Academy of Ambulatory Care Nursing, and recognized and published in the Boston Banner. Jhenane's holistic approach to self-care blossomed after the heartbreaking loss of her father. She dedicated herself to researching the properties of essential oils and their potential application in mental health. She has since completed her research paper on this topic, which is currently pending publication. Jhenane's passion for working with the community encouraged her to return to school and graduate with a Master's of Science in Nursing-Public Health in 2023.
On a personal note, I am the proud mother of an amazing daughter who has been my source of motivation since birth. As she grows and observes me engaging with the community, it has become a catalyst for her own development. Witnessing her mother's involvement has inspired her to educate her friends within the community about health and wellness.
In July 2019, I found myself in a season of loneliness, grasping with a sense of feeling lost following the end of a long-term relationship. I had grown accustomed to shared experiences and now faced the reality of navigating life on my own. The question that remained: "I am alone—where do I go from here?"
In that moment, I recognized that I couldn't be the only one feeling this way, and there had to be others who could relate to my journey. In February 2020, I took a leap of faith and launched the 1st Annual Self-Care Self-Love Retreat. My intention was to connect people with valuable community resources focused on self-care and self-love. This endeavor aimed to foster a sense of belonging and support for those on a similar path.
Despite a temporary hiatus due to the challenges posed by COVID, the journey continued. In April 2022, came together for the 2nd Self-Care Self-Love Retreat, themed "Reconnected with Yourself," and in September 2023, the 3rd Annual Self-Care Self-Love Retreat centered around "Reframing Your Reflection: A Conversation about Body Image." Our commitment to promoting well-being and raising awareness in the community remains unwavering. As the journey continues, Self-Care Self-Love Retreat is now Thriving R.O.S.E (to revive, to be optimistic, to support, to educate).
My philosophy for Thriving R.O.S.E is to establish an open and inclusive environment dedicated to nurturing connections between the community and qualified professionals. It's a space where individuals can boldly ask questions, with professionals addressing holistic well-being and emphasizing the Social Determinants of Health to enhance the community's care. These connections will foster robust relationships, provide access to invaluable resources for daily living, and contribute to the enhancement of mental, physical, and spiritual well-being. Moreover, as a Registered Nurse and CCAP, I wholeheartedly believe that the natural gifts of essential oils, gifted to us by God, can serve as powerful tools for healing and elevating various dimensions of our lives.
